Trauma and Losses
Suffering symptoms of PTSD or being impacted by loss can be devastating. Whether the loss comes through the death of a loved one, divorce, or a stage-of-life challenges, the effects can be paralyzing and chaotic. Most of us need to rebuild, grieve well, reframe, and gain confidence within a structure that respectfully guides and supports our healing.
Therapy can do this so that you can process the shock and impact on your life and more healthily move through it. Losses associated with trauma often require specialized treatment, such as EMDR, a state of the art intervention which is remarkably effective. I am certified in EMDR and have a depth of experience in using these tools. If you have trauma from childhood or from current circumstances, you can benefit from guided healing exercises as well, which address family-of-origin pain and losses. Experiencing toxic effects of abuse or neglect can leave us feeling shameful, and often overly defensive. Participating in therapy can give you the respectful, safe structure to prevent isolation and provide a way through these emotions – to living in a more balanced state – allowing you the self-respect, empowerment and clarity to live your full possibility.
